Water Conservation: EPD Announces Level 1 Drought
The Georgia EPD recently declared many areas across the state as Level 1 requiring drought response from the communities. So what does that mean and does it affect you? Check out the link below to learn if your county is impacted. The recent notice all boils down to WATER CONSERVATION. If you’re impacted by these regulations, your City and County will notify you. In the meantime, here are some quick tips we can all start now to cut down on water consumption (regardless of where you land on the map):
- Limit dishwashing and laundry to only full loads.
- Fix leaky faucets. A leak of 60 drips/minute wastes 192 gallons/month.
- Reduce your shower time by 2 minutes. This quick adjustment results in saving 5 gallons each shower
- Check your toilets for leaks. If you’re not sure you have a leak, place a few drops of food coloring in your tank. If you see color in the bowl after 10 minutes- you have a leak!
- Turn the water off while you shave or brush your teeth. This slight change saves at least 100 gallons of water per week.
